KAPACHIM has started in Greece as a small sulphonation company. Since then, it has developed significantly and nowadays has become one of the largest sulphonation and sulphation complexes worldwide. In parallel, it has diversified its prodcution activity in a variety of different chemical groups. Our history is shortly described below.
KAPACHIM was initially founded in 1974 in Athens and has been operating a chemical production unit until 1987.
KAPACHIM installs its first film reactor sulphonation plant in 1989 in the area of Inofita, which is located 60 km north of Athens. The annual capacity of the first plant was 3600 tons of LABSA.
In 1996, due to the high demand of the market and in conjunction with the high standards of our products, the capacity of our factory increased to 15000 tons of LABSA per year.
In 1999 KAPACHIM integrated a new investment in Greece by establishing a multi-purpose plant for the production of betaines, amides and other specialties.
KAPACHIM adopts the ISO 9001 quality standard of the TUV CERTIFICATION.
In 2000 KAPACHIM installs a new sulphonation plant in Morocco with an annual production capacity of 40000 tons of LABSA. The plant is located 120km southwest of Casablanca and 200m from the port of Jorf Lasfar. This was the first Greek investment in Morocco.
In 2006 KAPACHIM installs a new sulphonation plant in Algeria in the city of Oran. The capacity of KAPACHIM ALGERIA is 40000 tons of LABSA per year.
In 2007 KAPACHIM MOROCCO adopts the ISO 9001 quality standard of the BVQI CERTIFICATION.
In 2009 KAPACHIM GREECE has started a Chlor-Alkali plant with annual capacity of 4000 tons of Cl2, used mainly for the production of Sodium Hypochlorite. The technology of this factory is membrane electrolysis.
In 2009 KAPACHIM MOROCCO started a new Silicate plant in Jorf Lasfar with annual capacity of 40000 tons. In 2009 KAPACHIM will start a new sulphonation plant in Ukraine in the city of Slavyansk. The capacity of the plant is 40000tons of LABSA per year.
